Here is the video, and notes from this past week's study in "Who Is God?"

WHO IS GOD?

Video Discussion:

What “hints of God” do you see from day to day?

What does it mean that God is Holy?

Why is it so important to establish a relationship with God? How do we do that?

Scripture:
EVERLASTING
God exists forever, meaning he has no beginning or end. He has always existed in the same way: fully and completely as God.

Psalm 90:2

2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

1 Timothy 1:17
17
To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 4:8
8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

HOLY
"To say that God is holy is to say that He is eternally separate and distinct from all impurity. The term holiness in Hebrew, qodesh, has the notion of separation, of uniqueness, of one-of-kindness as it were." - Bruce Ware

1 Samuel 2:2
2 "There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.

1 Peter 1:15
15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

Hebrews 7:26
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

Psalm 22:3
3Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel.

UNCHANGING
Also called immutability, this means that God never changes in his being (who he is) or promises

Malachi 3:6

6 “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.

James 1:17

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Hebrews 6:17
17 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath...

ALL KNOWING
God knows all things. This includes the past, the present, and the future. It includes actuality, and contingencies. That is, he knows what will happen, and he knows would "could" happen. There was never a time when God did not know anything. The greatest and deepest and most fascinating thing that God knows is himself, for his is infinitely deep in character and substance and beauty and wisdom.

1 John 3:20

20 for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.

Psalm 147:5
5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

Hebrews 4:13
13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Romans 11:34

34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?”
